Copyright in the classroom!

Todays research involves the issues with copyright. Copyright laws are in place to protect original work. With so many resources readily available infringements are all too common. So it is important to be careful when using resources for  educational and personal purposes. That leaves the questions. How do I cite? Where can I learn how to cite? What do I need to cite? Well the need for access to open educational resources has become a demand for educators and learners. Educators and learners  have made strong wave to readily make available and share digital media through the Internet. Creative Commons was created for just that, to allow open sharing of created work.

Information about Creative Commons can be found here: https://wiki.creativecommons.org/wiki/Creative_Commons_and_Open_Educational_Resources

The Creative Commons 6 licences can be found here: https://creativecommons.org/licenses/

These six licences create a simple way to obtain and distribute copyright permissions.

If you have to use images or videos in the classroom as either the educator or the learner remember to cite your work.

Cite It Right can be found here and explains how to cite the images you use: http://www.handy4class.com/h4c2011/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/CITE-IT-RIGHT-2015.pdf

Finally Creative Commons search tool can be used to find images you can use, share and remix.

Here it is: https://search.creativecommons.org/

The most important thing is to give credit where credit is due.
